Advocate Afrin Jahan Khan is a Senior Associate of Legal Counsel. Taking keen interest on litigation, she majorly manages the Chambers’ litigations pending before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, advising, drafting documents and instruments for, conducting hearings and representing, the Chambers’ clients.
Apart from litigation, she specializes in Constitutional Law and Public Interest Litigation, Tax Law, Land Law, Power, Energy and Natural Resources Law etc.
In October 2009, Advocate Afrin Jahan Khan started her legal career with a litigation-based law firm namely Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Associates. Focusing chiefly on litigation practice, she gained expertise in handling case paperwork, drafting and filing different legal instruments and documents before the courts, following in-depth legal research. She learned about managing cases in relation to Judicial Reviews, Criminal and Civil Law matters and Writs.
After pursuing her LLM degree, Advocate Afrin joined Chowdhury & Ullah in 2013, where she gained experience in Banking Law, Company Law, Corporate & Commercial Law, Family Law and Constitutional Law.
Switching to Lex Counsel in 2015, Advocate Afrin focused her practice in a variety of legal areas such as Power, Energy and Natural Resources Law, Contract Law and Land Law etc. She largely engaged in dealing with several high profile Government projects including PPP (Public-Private Partnership) projects, large infrastructural projects etc. She has represented different institutions, ministries, statutory bodies etc. under the Government of Bangladesh in numerous litigations within writ jurisdictions of the Supreme Court.
In November 2018, Advocate Afrin joined Legal Counsel as a Senior Associate and had been looking after the litigations at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She drafts various legal instruments and other ancillary legal documents for filing before the courts of the country. She researches through huge volume of information and delivers complex legal opinions on vast spectrum of laws, including Laws of Corporate and Individual Taxation, Labour & Employment Laws and Land Law. Here she represents Legal Counsel’s clients including reputed MNCs, large corporates, international organizations etc.
