Barrister Rabiya J Firoz is the Chief Executive Lawyer of Legal Counsel. Having started her career at an early age, she has already made her mark in the corporate legal arena with her unique approach to interpretation and application of laws and advising clients. Descending from a family teeming with prominent Barristers, Advocates, an Honorary Magistrate in the UK, renowned politicians and law makers, legal practice seems to run in her blood. A rich educational background from the start of Barrister Rabiya’s life, plethora of academic awards and sporting and cultural recognitions, set a firm foundation to what she has become today. Through many years of association with Legal Counsel and through her engagements in corporate giants like Accenture and Unilever, she has served a diverse set of clients, both local and foreign, dealing with vast legal and practical topics. Barrister Rabiya is popular amongst the clients, who appreciate her sense of responsibility, reliability, critical analysis of laws and fair-mindedness.

Work Experience

Having started her career back in July 2011 as a pupil in M. A. Wahab & Associates, a litigation-based law firm, Barrister Rabiya J Firoz, she learned about court proceedings, drafting and preparation of various legal documents and instruments for filing before courts.

Barrister Rabiya soon realized corporate practice was her matter of greater interest and in January 2012, she joined Legal Counsel as a junior associate, rapidly growing into a fine lawyer and securing the position of Associate and later Senior Associate by 2015.

She gained experience in Labour & Employment, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Banking Law, Company Law, Negotiable Instruments and Artha Rin disputes and litigation, etc.

In 2017, Barrister Rabiya joined Accenture Communication Infrastructure Solutions Limited as their Labour Analyst and General Legal Counsel, which gave her insight to in-house counseling, with focus on Industrial Disputes, Labour & Employment Laws, Contract Laws etc.

In late 2018, Barrister Rabiya started working for Unilever Bangladesh Limited as their in-house Legal Consultant, taking charge of Contract Management, Business Integrity Management, besides advising on various issues regarding corporate governance, compliance and regulatory matters, data governance, protection and privacy, brand protection, advertising and marketing communications, anti-competition, etc.

Through in-house counseling, Barrister Rabiya has had the opportunity to experience the needs of business organizations from within and the expectations from external counsels and advisors and the day-to-day management of business. Both the experiences also fueled her knowledge not only on business, but also its management and structures, regulatory and compliance aspects, employment relations, marketing and commercialization, amongst others.

Barrister Rabiya joined back Legal Counsel in 2020 as the Chief Executive Lawyer and is now responsible for leading the team of fine selection of Associates that the Chambers prides about. She provides advisory and drafting services on various aspects of laws including, but not limited to, Labour & Employment, Industrial Disputes, Contract, ICT and laws governing Data Governance, Protection and Privacy. She advises on Anti-Competition Laws and Brand Protection and conducts legal vetting of Marketing and Advertising Communications.

Barrister Rabiya has also taught different subjects of Law in Newcastle Law Academy, an institution for studying English Law. She had also been a Class Teacher/English Teacher at Mastermind School during her years in college.
